Web Builders Guide

The goal is not to pick a trendy tool. It is to choose a stable platform that supports your outcomes, update rhythm, and maintenance preferences. Specific tool choices happen in conversation. This page frames how to decide.

Quick orientation

Astro (custom, fast)

  • Great for small, crafted sites where performance, structure, and longevity matter.
  • Edits can be file-based or through a light CMS added later.
  • Best when layouts are stable and changes are purposeful.

WordPress (familiar, flexible)

  • Solid for ongoing publishing and when non-technical editing matters.
  • Large ecosystem; needs mindful curation and light maintenance.
  • Light ecommerce with WooCommerce works well for small catalogs; larger or more complex shops are evaluated case-by-case (often with a partner).

Visual builders (template-driven)

  • Fast to launch and edit in the browser.
  • Strong fit for simple sites, landing pages, and DIY changes.
  • Less control over deep structure and performance details.

Examples: Webflow, Framer, Squarespace. Examples only — we will choose the simplest tool that fits your outcomes and how you will edit.

I primarily build custom sites in Astro and WordPress. I can design/structure and hand off in visual builders; heavier builds get a specialist referral.

Map your choice

By outcomes

  • Inquiries and credibility: one-page or light multi-section site.
  • Portfolio trust: case studies, visuals, and a clear process page.
  • Content visibility: articles and resources that compound over time.
  • Transactions or integrations: add modules or choose a suite with those built-in.

By update rhythm

  • Rarely: keep it simple and durable.
  • Monthly: maintain a small set of pages and a cadence for updates.
  • Weekly: choose an editor that feels natural; keep the structure tidy.

How editing works

Astro

Content can live in simple files or a light CMS. Edits are intentional, releases are clean, and performance stays strong.

WordPress

Edit in the browser with a block editor. Good for adding posts, light pages, and updates without touching code.

Visual builders

Edit layouts and text directly in the browser. Best when you want to change copy or sections yourself.

We can also connect a privacy-first analytics view and a simple form or booking page. No heavy tracking by default.

When to choose which

  • Astro: you want speed, tight structure, and a site that ages well with small purposeful changes.
  • WordPress: you plan to publish content and want a familiar browser editor.
  • Visual builder: you want a fast start and expect to tweak layouts yourself.
  • If you need memberships, courses, or robust e-commerce, we will evaluate options together and bring in a specialist when it helps.
  • If you need a complex web app, we will refer you to a developer with that focus.

Common questions

Can I edit it myself?

Yes. WordPress and visual builders are browser‑editable. Astro can be file‑based or paired with a light CMS.

Which is best for SEO?

Clear structure and readable pages matter more than platform. We keep it fast, accessible, and organized.

Do you build in Webflow/Squarespace?

For straightforward sites, yes. For app‑like needs or heavy commerce, we will bring in a specialist.

We will finalize tool choices together based on your goals and maintenance appetite.
